Amazon.co.uk Review:
Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End is a rollicking voyage in the same spirit of the two earlier Pirates films, yet far darker in spots (and nearly three hours to boot). The action, largely revolving around a pirate alliance against the ruthless East India Trading Company, doesn't disappoint, though the violence is probably too harsh for young children. Through it all, the plucky cast (Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush) are buffeted by battle, maelstroms, betrayal, treachery, a ferocious Caribbean weather goddess, and that gnarly voyage back from the world's end--but with their wit intact. As always, Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow tosses off great lines; he chastises "a woman scorned, like which hell hath no fury than!" He insults an opponent with a string of epithets, ending in "yeasty codpiece."

In the previous The Curse of the Black Pearl, Sparrow was killed--sent to Davy Jones' Locker. In the opening scenes, the viewer sees that death has not been kind to Sparrow--but that's not to say he hasn't found endless ways to amuse himself, cavorting with dozens of hallucinated versions of himself on the deck of the Black Pearl. But Sparrow is needed in this world, so a daring rescue brings him back. Keith Richards' much ballyhooed appearance as Jack's dad is little more than a cameo, though he does play a wistful guitar. But the action, as always, is more than satisfying, held together by Depp, who, outsmarting the far-better-armed British yet again, causes a bewigged commander to muse: "Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?" As far as fans are concerned, it matters not. --A.T. Hurley

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - We meet new friends and old enemies
It is time for the East India Trading Company, vigorously trying to stamp out piracy. The nine pirate leaders must unite or disappear. Unfortunately one pirate leader Captain Sparrow, dead and gone, must be retrieved from Davy Jones' Locker.

A positive character that had a lot of potential is Naomie Harris as Calypso, the sea goddess. She get a big buildup and just as she is about to strike she becomes crabby.

This film has too many plots and sub plots. Too many characters ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Beware - have you rented the film?
Ordered the film via Amazon DVD rental - sat down on a Sunday afternoon to watch film to find that this was the bonus disc and not the actual film. This is the second time that this has now happened via the DVD rental service - if you buy the film you get both discs if you rent you get just one at a time - be very careful that you add the actual film to your rental list and not the bonus disc. Have now cancelled rental service.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - In the same league as rocky 5. JUST!!
I loved the first two Pirate films and loved the cliffhanger at the end of Dead Man's Chest. Eagerly awaiting the grand finale which would have put this modern trilogy up with the likes of Indiana Jones and Back to the Future, I was amazed at how badly this film imploded into a load of rubbish.
The plot doesn't make sense, the sexy Keira Knightley is declared King, yes, King! and Jack Sparrow, the only character with any flare, plays second fiddle to the awful acting skills of Orlando Bloom. ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fantastic Film
Another fantastic film in the Pirate's trilogy, not quite as good as my favourite - the first one. It ties everything up quite nicely and it is important to watch to the credits to see the ending of the story.

Seeing it on blu ray is like seeing a different film again. Crystal clear pictures giving an almost 3D effect. Once you go to blu ray you spoil yourself, dvd just doesn't look the same again.

Definitely a must buy and don't forget to watch the extras. The extras really ... Read More
