We have found this to be a great book for introducing artists to our young one. True, it would be nice if there were more color pictures, but the book has a companion website that shows the paintings in color, and you can find activites there also.

This follows the model of the best art teacher I have worked with: introduce the artist and his/her work, and then present a project that is reflective of the artist's style, media, and vision in such a way that the student experiences the artist while not copying him/her. I've read some of the reviews for this book that complain it is not in color. If you know anything about being an educational publisher, you know that they don't make a lot of money, and publishing in color is not a easy option. When I viewed the sample pages of the book, I was excited. I became even more thrilled by the positive reviews others gave. However, when I received the book and quickly flipped through the pages, I was highly disappointed. I was under the impression that the pages would be colored. My assumption was wrong.
