Amazon.com Review:
The mother sings to her sleeping baby: "I'll love you forever / I'll love you for always / As long as I'm living / My baby you'll be." She still sings the same song when her baby has turned into a fractious 2-year-old, a slovenly 9-year-old, and then a raucous teen. So far so ordinary--but this is one persistent lady. When her son grows up and leaves home, she takes to driving across town with a ladder on the car roof, climbing through her grown son's window, and rocking the sleeping man in the same way. Then, inevitably, the day comes when she's too old and sick to hold him, and the roles are at last reversed. Each stage is illustrated by one of Sheila McGraw's comic and yet poignant pastels. (Ages 4 to 8) --Richard Farr

- an endearing read
I don't usually write book reviews, but this book has a special place in my heart and I wanted to share my love for it. Let me also preface by saying that my husband HATES this book. It is very sentimental and sappy. You have to be able to appreciate allegory, to suspend disbelief.
Obviously it is creepy if a mom actually drives across town and climbs into her grown son's window so she can rock him to sleep... but reading this book with such an unimaginitive outlook misses the essence. ... Read More

- I'm glad my parents give me my privacy
As someone who loves both her parents very much, I agree with the people who find this book to be rather far-fetched. I would find it very disturbing if my parents were to drive across town and climb through my window at night. Fortunately, they prefer to use the door when they visit and they would never do so at some ungodly hour when I'm trying to sleep.
Something I found really odd was that the grown man at the end of the book ended up with a baby of his own. Although his wife was ... Read More

- WOW
We were given this book by two different friends (both parents of boys). I actually thought it was some kind of wierd joke the first time I read it. It is sweet in an odd way, but way to creepy. It's worth a read (at the library), for a good laugh.

- My favorite book
My first baby is about to have his first baby, as long as I'm living my baby he'll be. I just ordered him his own copy, since I still have his original, that I read many times to him and his brothers. I still cry everytime I read it... I think it is absolutely beautiful and sweet.
A Mother's love is for forever and always.
Rating:
- a new classic
I bought this to donate to a local charity for their raffle and I think it is appropriate for any child!!
