Product Description:
Christmas is an ancient Roman festival, not to be celebrated by decent folk in the Scottish Highlands. Police Constable Hamish Macbeth has always loved the festivities, but this year he is stuck with the long, lonely Christmas shift in freezing Lochdubh. A cranky old lady kicks off the holidays by reporting her cat missing. Then the Christmas lights and tree in a nearby village disappear soon after the local council voted to allow decorations. As Hamish finds a way to bring Christmas to the Highlands and make a little girls dreams come true, he finds, to his delight, that he has the best Christmas ever.
Rating:
- A Highland Christmas
One of my favorite authors and one of my favorite characters. Always an enjoyable read (with no 4-letter words!).

- Have yourself a merry little Christmas
As this 16th Hamish Macbeth novel begins it is Christmas in the sleepy little village of Lochdubh, in far northern Scotland. Macbeth is in a most unChristmasy mood, his family has gone to Florida for the holidays and Hamish was not able to get time off from work to go with them. To make matters worst the usually charming village has a most oldfashioned, strict Calvinist adversion to the holiday, condemning the usually festive season as 'pagan'. To add insult to injury Hamish is called out to investigate ... Read More

- Quick, Enjoyable Christmas Read
It's Christmas time in Lochdubh, Scotland, although it doesn't feel like it. Christmas decorations have been banned in the village, at least outside decorations. Constable Hamish MacBeth isn't too happy but he has his work to keep him busy. Someone has stolen some Christmas trees and lights from a nearby village; a lonely elderly woman has lost her cat and seems afraid of someone or something; and a young schoolgirl seems to be hiding some secrets. Hamish's methods may seem unorthodox, but he will solve these ... Read More

- No Plans for Christmas
Do you ever remember dreading Christmas? Did something happen to make it all turn out all right? If not, you will find good holiday cheer in M. C. Beaton's A Highland Christmas.
The sun barely peeks over the horizon for a few hours near the solstice in Lochdubh. Most villagers hunker down indoors and perhaps take a wee dram while wishing that the telly would offer some new shows rather than rerunning Miracle on 34th Street for the hundredth time.
Where is the festiveness of the ... Read More
