I thought this book was a waste of money for the fact that it doesn't really teach you how to maintain anything. There are some minor things in there about self care, but mostly she is saying to see a stylist and buy these products. Yes major advertising in here. There is information on braids, and even relaxers(def not natural) I don't know I thought the title was very misleading.

First of all, this is all my fault for buying a book before I read the reviews. This book was so unhelpful to me and I am returning it! I am kind of newly natural. I've been natural for a year this month. During my transitioning the previous year I kept my hair in braids or twists and now I am trying to find good sources that will teach me hair care and how to do styles myself so I will not be in the salon all the time! I bought "Textured Tresses" today and love it. There is a lot of celebrity name dropping but who cares. It is well written and provides product names, numerous illustrations, detailed how-to's and a salon directory. Also there is a section on picking the right stylist and salon that I found helpful. I bought "NO LYE!" Tuesday and returned it Wednesday. It was not nearly what I expected after all of the rave reviews. The illustrations were limited and the sections on twists was no help at all.
