Product Description:
This book could be your salvation! A quote from the "Daily Telegraph", but this cry could equally have come from the thousands of mothers who have put Gina Ford's kind but firm routines into practice and put some calm back into their lives. Sleep-starved nights, inconsolable crying, feeding on demand - stories that make the prospect of bringing a tiny baby home for the first time daunting for any proud new parent. Fully updated and with helpful input from clients, readers and mothers who simply love her routines, "The New Contented Little Baby Book" gives reassuring and practical advice to new parents that works from one of the UK's most respected and most talked about maternity nurses. Her secret is simple and amazing - a strategy developed through years of research and experience. When put into practice, 'Gina babies': sleep through the night from an early age; feed regularly and well from either breast or bottle; and are less likely to suffer from colic. And parents are calm and contented too!

- I agree--not good for breastfed babies
This book obviously works for some people, but I just want to gently warn any pregnant woman who is thinking of buying this book who is also keen to breastfeed her baby. The idea of a perfect routine where my baby slept and ate exactly when I wanted her to was very appealing to me (ha!) and I read the entire book before I gave birth and planned to begin introducing it as soon as I was home from the hospital (oh yes, I was such a first-time mother!).
The truth is... babies don't work like that ... Read More

- very regimented
Its very regimented, every minute is accounted for. I have lots of things to do, so I dont know if I can keep up with the regimen. Its worth a try.

- I would give this less than one star if I could
This method totally did not work for our baby. Trying it made me sob into my pillow every night as my baby screamed. We shoehorned him into the routines during the day with absolutely no benefit to be seen at all at night. The advice in this book is overly preachy on many points and completely vague on others. For example: "baby must be in his cot and asleep by 7pm" but there's no real mention of HOW to get the baby asleep by 7 when he's not tired, other than you shouldn't let him fall asleep with ... - The manual for babies (for Mums who need order)
I have had 2 babies and found this book an excellent resource. For mothers who leave the hospital daunted, sleep deprived this book is like the instruction manual that did not come with your bundle of joy.
Upon leaving the hospital, one is advised to "demand feed" and somehow, somewhere in the ensuing months the baby will fall into an acceptable routine of its own accord. Observation and experience has led me to believe that babies need encouraging into a routine!

- Wonderful (Extremely helpful - thank you GF)
I loved this book. I have a lot of Gina Ford's books and love them all. They are not for everyone but these are working beautifully for my daughter and family. There is some much great information, easy to read, not like some of those textbook type books that you fall asleep reading. My daughter is very, very happy and loves her schedule. She is 18 months now; we started her routine at 8 weeks and it has been a breeze ever since.
